The McDowell Trails Association Rivers, trails, and greenway corridors are traditionally recognized for their environmental protection, recreation values, and aesthetic appearance. These corridors also have the potential to create jobs, enhance property values, expand local businesses, attract new or relocating businesses, increase local tax revenues, decrease local government expenditures, and promote a local community. The McDowell Trails Association is a non-profit corporation formed for the purpose of developing trails, blue ways and greenways in McDowell County and is raising private funds for the trail. An advisory committee composed of government agencies and local citizens are involved in planning efforts. All of these groups and individuals are working together to make McDowell trails and greenways a reality.
